The Artful Monogram started as a hobby as many monogram businesses do.  After the birth of twin granddaughters 17+ years ago I bought a single-needle embroidery machine to “play with” and personalize baby things for the girls.  I studied the craft learning all the ins and outs of successful monograming and embroidery and eventually branched out to personalizing gifts for friends.  After a few years I outgrew my single-needle machine and bought a second-hand 6 needle machine that allowed me to take on projects that were previously not possible.  All the while, I continued to “play with” and really hone my craft and began monogramming things for paying friends.  Eventually I took the plunge and bought a 10 needle machine and decided it was time to make a real business of it.  I left my paying job and never looked back!  The Artful Monogram seemed the logical business name as monograms can truly be a work of art!
